Some support piers showing signs of concrete cancer. Concrete cancer occurs when the metal reinforcement within the concrete support piers is placed too close to the external edge of the pier, causing the steel to rust. The rust expands and cracks the concrete. This is generally more prevalent in those suburbs where there is a higher salt content in the soil.
